| These records, dating from 1996 to 2016 and undated, document the GCI's collaboration from 1999 to 2002 with the Consejo Nacional
para la Cultura y el Arte (CONCULTURA) in El Salvador to develop a site management plan for the archaeological site of Joya
de Cerén. Records are in digital and analog form and include drafts and copies of the final management plan, which was completed
in the summer of 2002 and presented publicly to local and national authorities and stakeholders and to the vice president
of El Salvador by the GCI and CONCULTURA. The resulting plan includes three components: the narrative of the plan, a full
mapping of the site and projects, and a detailed description of projects. In addition, an executive summary was developed
in English, Spanish, and French to promote the plan and to summarize its contents and proposals for potential financial support.
Records also include support documents for the management plan such as project planning files, archival and bibliographic
research, and condition assessment drawings and reports. The condition assessment included a detailed topographic survey of
the site; an architectural survey of select structures; environmental monitoring; and analysis of (decay mechanisms) potential
biological threats, site and structure materials, hydrology, and site drainage. There are also trip and meeting reports; photographs;
videocassettes containing interviews and footage of the site; presentation materials; copies of signed agreements with CONCULTURA;
and a copy of Conservation Management Planning: Putting Theory into Practice: The Case of Joya de Cerén, El Salvador, a GCI
publication regarding the project. There are also files associated with a 2005 experts meeting convened by CONCULTURA and
FUNDAR (Fundacion Nacional de Arquelogia) to discuss the management plan and conservation strategies for Joya de Cerén. A
small portion of the records pertain to the El Salvador Earthquake Relief project.

| Digital content consists of files copied from CDs (spread throughout the series) and project files originally maintained on
the GCI's shared network drive (listed under the "Digital network files" category). They include a mix of text, image, database,
and CAD formats. Note that in 2015, a GCI consultant migrated CAD files for the project to the 2014 version of AutoCAD and
reestablished external references. Those files are listed under the "Digital network files" category.
