Finding aid for the Walter Fraser Oakeshott papers, 1926-1986 (bulk 1949-1986)
Series IV. Various studies, undated 1.0 linear feet
Series IV. contains articles and related materials on the history of the Winchester College and Cathedral libraries, the restoration of the college chapel and other stone buildings at Oxford. A typescript for "The Gospels and History," and short essays on the following topics: two terra-cotta statuettes in Skinner's Hall, Winchester, with photos; black-figure cups at Winchester; the Borchardt Measure; Dr. Arnold, Headmaster at Rugby; Oakeshott's school days and teachers; and Ancient and Medieval trade routes. The series includes 10 typescripts for book reviews written by Oakeshott, a bound typescript collection of poems by H.S. Vere-Hodge; reprints of 7 articles by Oakeshott on various topics; and 65 glass plates including aerial views of the English countryside and historic sites, photos and architectural renderings of libraries, maps, and Medieval art.
