Renger-Patzsch (Albert) papers
Series V. Ephemera, 1927-1980 circa 345 items
Series V.A. Press clippings, 1927-1980 ca. 274 items
Press Clippings includes ca. 270 loose press clippings, and 4 notebooks. The notebooks were compiled by Renger-Patzsch before the war, possibly during the early 1930s. Each notebook contains a large number of pasted-in press clippings of reviews and illustrations dating from ca. 1927 to 1931. A large part of Renger-Patzsch's archive at the Museum Folkwang in Essen was destroyed during an air raid in 1944, so many of the press illustrations in the note books are the only remaining reproductions of Renger-Patzsch's pre-war photographs. The reviews provide information about the reception of his pre-war work, book projects, exhibitions, and other professional activities. The loose press clippings date from 1960 to 1966 and are arranged by topic: the Photokina 1960, the 1960 Culture Prize awarded to Renger-Patzsch, his obituaries, and commemorative exhibitions. The majority was sent to Renger-Patzsch from the clipping service "Der Ausschnitt" in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Miscellaneous press clippings, some unrelated to Renger-Patzsch, are filed in Box 19, F. 8 and 9.
