Series VIII is organized in three subseries. Sketchbooks, 1901-1964 span Hoffman's formative years and career. Large photographs of sculptures and commissions, 1915-1960 depict some Hoffman's work and complement the photographs in Series V. Working drawings, sketches and progress photographs, 1899-1964 document Hoffman's working methods.
