|
|
Ryston Hall, Downham Market, Norfolk, was the seat of the Pratt family. It was built
by Sir Roger Pratt (1620-1684), a landed English gentleman and influential architect,
who, along with Hugh May and Christopher Wren was appointed one of the Commissioners
for Rebuilding by King Charles II following the Great London Fire of 1666. Constructed
on the Pratt on the family estate between 1669 and 1672 in the Carolean style, Ryston
Hall was significantly altered first by Sir John Soane in the eighteenth century and
then by Anthony Salvin in the mid-nineteenth century.
