Series V. Advisory committees, juries and speaking engagements 1889-2012

|
Huxtable was a member of several prestigious honor societies celebrating artists of
letters. She was also frequently invited to participate on advisory committees and
councils for cultural institutions embarking on new architectural design projects,
selecting architects, awarding prizes in architectural excellence, or shaping
architectural scholarship. Huxtable's impact in her field was such that often
organizations that had awarded her prizes such as the MacArthur Prize and the Guggenheim
Fellowship asked her back to participate in the selection of future prize winners. Files
typically include correspondence, meeting minutes, institutional reports, architect
submissions, travel itineraries and expenses. Sometimes certificates or medals are
included honoring Huxtable's participation.
|
This series also includes papers from Huxtable's many speaking engagements. Huxtable
often spoke to promote her books, to serve as an expert in the field for architectural
programming, or to teach a course. Items, mostly include letters and ephemera, are filed
in this series when her writing was unavailable. For Huxtable's lectures see Series
II.
