Smith (Harry) papers
Series I. Correspondence, 1974-1992, undated 2.09 Linear Feet (5 boxes)
Consisting almost entirely of letters received, this series comprises the mail sent to Smith during the last four years of his life, while he was mostly in residence at the Naropa Institute. The major portion of this material is financial, consisting of bills and receipts. Some of the material is from friends and former students.
Arrangement
Organized in two groupings: letters from friends and fans, arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the correspondent; and bills and receipts, roughly grouped by type.

1-2 Letters from friends, 1974-1992
Letters written to Harry Smith while he was in residence at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado during the last four years of his life. One highlight is the file of letters from Allen Ginsberg, who often berates Smith for over-spending. One letter is from 1974; the rest are from the last four years of his life and the year after.
