Series III contains the newspaper articles that were selected and assembled by the firm
of Duveen Brothers for presentation in large scrapbooks. The scrapbooks document
advertising campaigns orchestrated by the firm and they provide comprehensive coverage
on Joseph Duveen, the firm's major acquisitions and exhibitions, art collectors and
dealers, the art world in general, and the trials the firm was involved in, including
Hahn v. Duveen. The court proceedings were filed with the press documentation and have
been left in situ in Series III.

Jacques Duveen, owner of J. M. Duveen & Son, who, under the name of James Henry
Duveen, would later write Collections and Recollections. A
Century and a Half of Art Deals (1935) and Secrets of
an Art Dealer, (1938), brought a lawsuit in 1910 against his cousin Joseph
Duveen.

Henry E. Huntington brought a lawsuit against the art dealer Lewis & Simmons
regarding his purchase of a work identified by the dealer as Mr. Siddons and Her Sister by George Romney. This attribution was disputed
by Joseph Duveen and other experts, and the work was later identified as Maria and Oratia Waldegrave by Ozias Humphrey.

The Hahn v. Duveen lawsuit was brought against Duveen Brothers by Andrée Hahn of
Kansas City. Hahn claimed to own Leonardo da Vinci's La belle
ferronnière and hoped to sell the work as such, when Joseph Duveen declared
the painting to be a feeble copy of Leonardo da Vinci's painting in the Louvre.

The Demotte lawsuit was brought against Duveen Brothers by the dealer Georges-Joseph
Demotte. When the collector Michael Dreicer asked Duveen Brothers to assess his
collection, the firm declared a 13th-century statue purchased by the collector from
Demotte to be a fake. Demotte sued the firm over this assessment of the sculpture.
