191-192 Excavations at Gravina, 1966-1969
In the spring of 1967, Vander Poel and M. A. Cotton conducted a short excavation as part of the larger British and American excavations at Botromagno near Gravina. They excavated a field containing a necropolis that had been the scene of tomb-robbing. Their mission was to get data on the cemetery and determine its relation to the residential area that lay to the north. See also Box 587.

General Italian art, archaeology and history, circa 1730-1996
A wide range of materials relating to the art and archaeology of Italy form this section of the archive. The bulk of the material falls into two groups: that related to the archaeology of areas of Italy other than Campania, and that related to Vander Poel's interest in various churches in Rome and the work of Professor Pico Cellini on fresco restoration. Of particular interest is a set of clippings on Italian archaeology, the core of which may have been assembled by Della Corte.
