The Real Museo Borbonico comprised a series of 16
reports published from 1824 to 1857. The volumes offer extensive treatment of the
objects, such as frescoes, mosaics, bronzes and marbles, found in the excavations of
the Campanian cities and held by the museum in Naples.
Vander Poel prepared plate concordances listing the original provenance of the
object, inventory number, current location in the museum and bibliography for each
plate in the series. Vander Poel's research is arranged by volume number. Each volume
has an annotated typescript and two annotated carbon copies of an alternate typescript
or earlier draft. The precise date of Vander Poel's work on this project is
unknown.
