	The Special Collections and Institutional Archives departments create finding aids for the Getty Research Institute's archival and visual resource collections and for a few historical records of the J. Paul Getty Trust. A "finding aid" describes the scope and contents of a group of records and provides an inventory of materials within the records. 	Abstract:	The records comprise the project files of the Department of Architecture and Contemporary Art (DACA) at the Getty Research Institute (GRI) for the California Video exhibition co-sponsored by the GRI and the J. Paul Getty Museum. Records include artist interviews conducted by Glenn Phillips and Carole Ann Klonarides and exhibition planning documents dating from 2006 to 2008 that include interviews, press, artist profiles, correspondence, contracts, ephemera, object lists and stills of videos featured in the exhibition.

The material dates from around the 1890s to 1973 and includes correspondence that discusses Hewins' writings about Getty, a number of unpublished manuscripts, personal photographs given to Hewins by Mr. Getty, and other related photographs, clippings, and ephemera belonging to Hewins.

The collection includes a translation in manuscript by Valançay, 5 manuscripts by others, printed ephemera, and ca. 50 photographs, most presumably taken by Valançay.

	Abstract:	The Åke Åkerström papers record the scholarly career of this Swedish classical archaeologist. Åkerström's research interests and publications ranged from architectural terracottas in Asia Minor to Etruscan tomb typology to Mycenaean pottery in Greece, and this breadth is reflected in the research notes, photographs, postcards, drawings, correspondence, manuscripts, and typescripts that constitute the Åkerström papers. The archive also includes a substantial amount of material that originated with Lennart Kjellberg and Axel W. Persson, earlier scholars whose work Åkerström continued.

	Abstract:	The Paul Outerbridge papers document the American photographer's artistic and professional life from his earliest art studies in 1915 through his varied career as an innovator in advertising photography, a pioneer in color photography, and a freelance writer. The archive includes correspondence, notebooks and diaries, typescripts, drawings and sketches, business records, scrapbooks, a portfolio, autobiographical and biographical statements, and intermittent clippings and ephemera.

	Abstract:	Robert Irwin is a California artist associated with the Light and Space movement. Additions (1999-2011) to the archive include papers, photographs, and drawings relating to the Getty central garden and other projects (ca. 1992-2011).

	Abstract:	Archive assembled by James Breslin, professor at the University of California, Berkeley, as he researched and wrote Mark Rothko: a biography. The Russian-born American painter's life and work are the central subjects of the collection, situated in broad historical and artistic contexts with particular emphasis on Abstract Expressionism and the New York art world from the 1920s through the 1960s. Materials include interview recordings and transcripts, correspondence, financial and legal documents, photographs, clippings, assorted printed materials, and extensive notes.

The archive contains personal and professional correspondence, unpublished manuscripts, extensive research notes and photographic documentation on terracotta arulae from Magna Grecia, and teaching notes, as well as material related to her father, Ignaz Jastrow.

	Abstract:	Notable art dealers from the late nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century. The records provide a detailed view of the Duveen Brothers business activities in London, Paris, and New York. Although the archive extends from 1876 to 1981, the bulk of the material dates from Joseph Duveen's tenure as president of the firm, 1909-1939, and the period 1939-1964 when Edward Fowles directed the firm (with Armand Lowengard until 1943). The mass of documents, such as cables and letters, invoices, and ledger and stock books, give a day-by-day account of art dealing, business strategy, and the individuals involved. Included are some records from the Kleinberger Galleries, 1906-1971, and 6 linear feet of Edward Fowles's papers.

Vander Poel Campanian collection is an archive devoted to the historiography of archaeological investigations conducted around the Bay of Naples, with particular emphasis on Pompeii. Comprised of manuscripts, photographs, maps, plans, drawings and the papers of Matteo Della Corte and Tatiana Warscher, it is a comprehensive resource for researching the excavations at Pompeii and the surrounding area.
