Collection Inventories and Finding Aids

The Special Collections and Institutional Archives departments create finding aids for the Getty Research Institute's archival and visual resource collections and for a few historical records of the J. Paul Getty Trust. A "finding aid" describes the scope and contents of a group of records and provides an inventory of materials within the records.

The regions most heavily represented are: the Abruzzi, Lazio (including Rome), the Marches, and Umbria.

 Abstract:  A collection of modern photographs of Greek and Roman vases assembled by the Getty Research Institute. Photographs of Attic black- and red-figured vases attributed to particular vase-painters by J. D. Beazley comprise the largest component of the collection. Coverage of South Italian red-figured vases is also significant. Coverage of other ancient vase-painting styles (including Corinthian, Lakonian, Etruscan, Boeotian, and East Greek examples) is less complete.
